Centre of Agricultural Education in Biť Province (Angola)

The aim of the project is to establish Centre of agricultural education and develop training and extension services for local farmers in the Biť province. Besides the secondary-school course including both general and agriculture subjects, an applied research and consultant services complement the integral part.

The aim of the project is to contribute to renovation and development of Angolan agriculture through education of future agriculture specialists and providing consulting services to local farmers and staff of governmental as well as non-governmental sector. The establishment of the Centre will help in solving food problems and at the same time in generating new labour opportunities. The localization of the project in the Biť province reflects the reality, that this province is one of the most afflicted by war together with its high agriculture potential. The major obstacle in successful development process of agriculture is a significant lack of qualified manpower. The educational activity of the Centre will also help to solve depopulation of rural areas to the urban areas. In Angola, this negative social process is deepened by movements of population from war zones which were located in inland.
The establishment of agriculture education in the Biť province is one of the necessary demands, which must be fulfilled in order to initiate post-war renovation and development of the region of extension area equal to the area of the Czech Republic. Development of agriculture and food supply has become the priority of the development of the whole region.
The conception of secondary and university education in the province is not possible without the foreigner assistance, which would arrange means and supply the experts in the beginning of the process. The fundamental significance for the provincial government is proclaimed by the strong participation in the project realization.
